Project Hope
Empowering veterans to tell their stories and build creative futures.
Project Hope is a transformative program dedicated to helping veterans transition into meaningful careers in Oregon’s media industry. By offering paid entry-level positions on local film and media productions, the initiative fosters opportunities for veterans to explore their creativity, gain practical experience, and build professional connections in an inclusive and supportive environment.
A key part of Project Hope's mission is to amplify the groundbreaking work of our partner, Sean Davis of Mountain, River, and Sea Productions. Sean’s dedication to veterans through his HERO Project initiative has inspired and guided our approach, allowing us to expand opportunities for those who have served across the state of Oregon.
Project Hope is committed to creating 55 paid placements across five unique projects, including production sets, studio environments, documentaries, and feature film-driven content. These roles are designed to provide hands-on experience, industry exposure, and a pathway to long-term success in the media world. Many participants will go on to secure independent work, with some even gaining the credentials to join industry unions—opening the door to stable wages, healthcare benefits, and retirement plans.
The program emphasizes three pillars of support to ensure veterans have a strong foundation for success:
Training: Tailored, hands-on education designed to meet the demands of the media industry.
Placements: Paid roles on local productions and creative projects.
Mentorship: One-on-one guidance from experienced professionals to foster growth and career development.
Through the vision of SeaRiver Pictures and the inspiration of initiatives like the HERO Project, Project Hope strives to empower veterans to find their voice, share their stories, and build futures in the vibrant Oregon media community.
Sean Davis – A Story of Resilience and Purpose
Featured in HUMAN, the acclaimed documentary by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, Sean Davis shares his journey from soldier to storyteller. After surviving an IED explosion in Iraq, he turned to writing and filmmaking to help fellow veterans find purpose beyond the battlefield.
Now, as a key partner in Project Hope, Sean is training veterans in filmmaking—not just as creative expression, but as a real path to careers. His story is one of resilience and the belief that veterans deserve more than survival—they deserve a future.
